What Are Sprockets & What Are They Used For?
A sprocket is a precision-machined toothed wheel designed to drive or be driven by a roller chain. When paired with a matching chain, sprockets transfer rotational power efficiently between shafts in mechanical systems.
Unlike gears, sprockets use a chain rather than meshing directly with another toothed wheel.
How Sprockets Work
As the sprocket rotates:
